"Vamos a la playa" in sottofondo, la testa grigia di mia nonna chinata a infilare l'ago, io che rovisto nella scatola dei fili: rocchetti, fettucce e qualche strass impertinente. Istantanea da un'infanzia in cui saper cucire sembrava normale. Oggi è un sogno. Lavoro, casa, famiglia, il tempo vola via, ma i desideri restano. Nessuna di noi trova il tempo di farlo, ma tutte ci diciamo "Chissà! Forse un giorno imparerò a cucire..." e conserviamo in qualche angolo della casa una scatola dei fili. Di vimini con l'imbottitura in stoffa, di legno con i cuori tirolesi, di latta con la scritta "frollini al burro": rimane sempre un oggetto fascinoso, intimo, magico. Riapriamola insieme e riscopriamo il gusto di realizzare piccole creazioni, per noi, per i nostri bambini o semplicemente ... per gioco.
Unfreeze propone un laboratorio creativo alla riscoperta del cucito: tre appuntamenti per acquisire e migliorare le tecniche base dell'arte di cucire realizzando borse e semplici vestiti per bambini. Ci incontreremo il 19 e il 26 giugno nella casa-laboratorio di Unfreeze sulle colline di Lucca e, a partire da un modello preimpostato dalle nostre laboriose tutor, Maria e Veronica, sceglieremo i materiali, i decori, le soluzioni migliori per dare forma al nostro progetto. Sperimenteremo accostamenti di colori, mix di tessuti diversi, applicazioni e ricami, tutto all'insegna del divertimento e della creatività. Gli incontri si terranno il sabato pomeriggio, dalle 15:00 alle 19:00. Puoi portare con te una stoffa a cui sei affezionata o un vecchio vestito da rielaborare, oppure puoi scegliere dal nostro baule lo scampolo che più ti piace. E se vuoi "cucirti addosso" un week end di creatività e turismo, Unfreeze è con te! Siamo in contatto con una rete di piccoli hotel e B&B della zona e saremo lieti di aiutarti a trovare una sistemazione comoda ed accogliente.

"Vamos a la playa" playing on the radio, my gray-haired granny bending to thread a needle, and me rummaging through the sewing box: reels of thread, ribbons and a few mischievous pearls. A snippet from a childhood when knowing how to sew was taken for granted. Not today. It's a dream! Work, home, family, always in a hurry, but our desires persist. None of us can find the time, but we all say to ourselves "Maybe... maybe one day I'll learn to sew..." and we keep a box of threads in some corner of the house. That box could be a wicker basket with a padded lining, or made of wood decorated with Tyrolese hearts, or an old "butter biscuit" tin. Whatever it is, that sewing box is a fascinating, intimate and magic thing. Let's open it again together and rediscover the joy of making small sewing creations for us, for our children, or just for... fun.
Unfreeze proposes a creative course to rediscover how to sew: two meetings to learn or improve the basic techniques of sewing while creating bags and simple clothes for children. We will be meeting on Saturday 19th and 26th June in the home-lab of Unfreeze in the hills near Lucca. Beginning with patterns prepared by our stylists Maria e Veronica, we will choose the materials, the decorations and the best way to create our projects. We will experiment with matching colours, mixing different fabrics and apply trimming and embroidery. All that while having fun and feeling free to be creative. You can bring with you some favourite fabric or a piece of clothing you would like to revive or choose something from our box of remnants. The meetings will be from 3 to 7 pm and all the activities will be in Italian... But don't worry! An English speaking teacher of Italian will be present for those in need. This is the perfect opportunity to learn or improve your Italian! And if you are looking for a "taylor-made" week end, Unfreeze is here to help you.
