Non perdiamo il filo! - Another wondering sewing session

Un altro sabato pomeriggio di chiacchiere e cucito. Che piacere! Baci rapidi e sinceri che cancellano le fatiche della settimana, qualche commento allegro e poi subito al lavoro. Stoffe, nastri, bottoni. Creazioni da rifinire, progetti da completare, nuovi progetti, follie da delirio di onnipotenza. Dobbiamo ammetterlo la curiosità un po' imbarazzata del primo incontro si è sciolta. Il secondo episodio del laboratorio di cucito creativo "La scatola dei fili" l'ha trasformata in passione!


E non è mancato lo spazio per la "famosa" merenda di Unfreeze. "Ormai il nostro pranzo del sabato è diventato uno spuntino, tanto poi veniamo qui ..." confessa Maria con un sorriso, mentre addenta un muffin al cioccolato (a proposito, grazie a Silvia per la ricetta!)

Naturalmente non sono tutte rose e fiori! Date un'occhiata alla vicenda di Simona. In rapida sequenza: riflessione, disperazione, consiglio "salvavita" della nostra tutor Veronica, e, con un po' di concentrazione, soddisfazione finale! Vissute insieme le piccole frustrazioni dell'imparare diventano occasioni di risate e di confronto. Insomma la morale è "Donna creativa, ricorda! Prima di buttare la tua Singer dalla finestra, puoi sempre provare con Unfreeze."

Anche questa volta i risultati sono stati ottimi: sacchetti, custodie portabiancheria e tante borse e borsine da sfoggiare già la sera stessa. Orgoglio sartoriale!


Ma non è finita qui, perché proprio negli ultimi scorci del pomeriggio, ci siamo lanciate in un miniprogetto che anticipa le tendenze che Unfreeze ha pensato per i laboratori d'autunno. Vi diamo solo un indizio: "restyling"; e vi lanciamo una domanda-sfida: da cosa è stata ricavata la deliziosa gonna "bon bon"? Arrivederci a settembre!

Another Saturday afternoon, another sewing session. What a delight! A few quick bur sincere greetings to erase the troubles of the week, some light exchanges and then straight to work! Fabrics, ribbons and buttons. Finishing touches to give, unfinished projects to complete, new projects to start, crazy ideas and other cases of sheer madness. We have to admit it, we broke the ice with “Sewing box”! If in the first session of the lab we were just curious and a bit nervous, this time it turned into a true passion! New session, new snack! And, of course, there's always time for the "famous" Unfreeze snack! "Saturday lunch is just something light now because we know we'll be coming here" says Maria, smiling will she takes a bite of a chocolate muffin (thanks to Silvia for the recipe). Naturally, it’s not all roses! Look at Simona: reflection, desperation, life saving tips from our teacher Veronica, and, with a little concentration, a satisfaying end result! Together learning can turn from something frustrating to something fun! So “Creative woman, before throwing your sewing machine out of the window, try Unfreeze!” We got a lot of great results this time too: large and small bags, ready to be worn immediately! What sewing pride! And so it will continue … as our very last project revealed. We'll give you just a hint: “restyling” and challenge you with this question: “What do we use to create the lovely “bon bon” skirt?” See you in September!

La scatola dei fili - Sewing box: photo story

Di nuovo bambine in quattro ore! Non è un nuovo trattamento di bellezza, né un "abracadabra" allo scoccare della mezzanotte. E' quello che è successo durante il primo episodio del workshop di cucito creativo che si è tenuto lo scorso sabato nella casa-laboratorio di Unfreeze. Era tutto pronto alle tre del pomeriggio, quando sono arrivate le partecipanti, un po' intimidite dallo strano posto (un po' salotto, un po' atelier, un po' famiglia, un po' studio,...). Ed è bastato un breve giro di conoscenza, qualche risata e gli spunti che ci hanno regalato Maria e Veronica, le nostre stylist-tutor, a sciogliere l'atmosfera.


La filosofia è quella dell'imparare facendo. E' poi vero che bisogna essere "artisti" per ideare, progettare e realizzare? Ognuno di noi ha qualcosa da dire, basta lasciargli lo spazio di uscire. Sono poi vere le raccomandazioni delle nostre mamme, nonne, zie sull'importanza di essere precise? "Prima esercitati ad andare dritta, poi potrai pensare di cucire qualcosa". Nella casa-laboratorio di Unfreeze, è bastata l'idea di creare una propria borsa per percorrere tutte le fasi del processo: disegno, taglio, imbastitura e montaggio ... e c'è anche stato spazio per una merenda per grandi e piccini!





Alcune sono arrivate al semi-finito, altre sono addirittura andate oltre con applicazioni e decorazioni, altre ancora (come chi scrive) si sono fermate un po' prima ... ma non c'è problema, perché ci rivediamo sabato 26 giugno dalle 15 alle 19 per completare e rifinire i nostri progetti o per avviarne di nuovi. Ad ognuno i suoi tempi, i suoi desideri, le sue fantasie. Unfreeze è prima di tutto libertà!

Back to being little girls in just four hours! It's neither a beauty treatment, nor a midnight spell. It's what happened during last Saturday's session of "Sewing box", the creative course organised in the home-lab of Unfreeze in the hills near Lucca. Everything was ready at three o’clock, when all the participants arrived. Perhaps at first they were a bit nervous because of the unusual location (dining room, studio, home or laboratory?), but after a brief introduction, a lot of smiles and the creative inspirations offered by our stylist, Maria e Veronica, the atmosphere became relaxed and productive. The philosophy is “learn by doing”. Is it true that you have to be an “artist” to be able to think up something, design it and create it? Each of us has something to say: the important thing is to feel free to be creative. Is it true what our grannies, aunts, mums told us about being precise? “First learn to sew in a straight line, then you can think about making something”. In the home-lab of Unfreeze it was enough to simply have the idea of creating your own bag to go through all the phases of the process: drawing, cutting, tacking and sewing … and we found the time even to have a snack together with the kids! Some of us finished their bags, some managed even to decorate them, others (like me) stopped much earlier … but never mind! We are meeting again on Saturday 26th June from 3 to 7 pm, to complete and give the finishing touches to our bags or to start something new. Each in their own time, with desires and fantasies, because, first and foremost, Unfreeze is freedom! All the activities will be in Italian, but an English speaking teacher of Italian will be present for those in need. This is the perfect opportunity to learn or improve your Italian! And if you are looking for a "taylor-made" week end, Unfreeze is linked to a network of small B&Bs around Lucca. We will be pleased to help you find suitable accomodation.

La scatola dei fili - Sewing box

"Vamos a la playa" in sottofondo, la testa grigia di mia nonna chinata a infilare l'ago, io che rovisto nella scatola dei fili: rocchetti, fettucce e qualche strass impertinente. Istantanea da un'infanzia in cui saper cucire sembrava normale. Oggi è un sogno. Lavoro, casa, famiglia, il tempo vola via, ma i desideri restano. Nessuna di noi trova il tempo di farlo, ma tutte ci diciamo "Chissà! Forse un giorno imparerò a cucire..." e conserviamo in qualche angolo della casa una scatola dei fili. Di vimini con l'imbottitura in stoffa, di legno con i cuori tirolesi, di latta con la scritta "frollini al burro": rimane sempre un oggetto fascinoso, intimo, magico. Riapriamola insieme e riscopriamo il gusto di realizzare piccole creazioni, per noi, per i nostri bambini o semplicemente ... per gioco.

Unfreeze propone un laboratorio creativo alla riscoperta del cucito: tre appuntamenti per acquisire e migliorare le tecniche base dell'arte di cucire realizzando borse e semplici vestiti per bambini. Ci incontreremo il 19 e il 26 giugno nella casa-laboratorio di Unfreeze sulle colline di Lucca e, a partire da un modello preimpostato dalle nostre laboriose tutor, Maria e Veronica, sceglieremo i materiali, i decori, le soluzioni migliori per dare forma al nostro progetto. Sperimenteremo accostamenti di colori, mix di tessuti diversi, applicazioni e ricami, tutto all'insegna del divertimento e della creatività. Gli incontri si terranno il sabato pomeriggio, dalle 15:00 alle 19:00. Puoi portare con te una stoffa a cui sei affezionata o un vecchio vestito da rielaborare, oppure puoi scegliere dal nostro baule lo scampolo che più ti piace. E se vuoi "cucirti addosso" un week end di creatività e turismo, Unfreeze è con te! Siamo in contatto con una rete di piccoli hotel e B&B della zona e saremo lieti di aiutarti a trovare una sistemazione comoda ed accogliente.

"Vamos a la playa" playing on the radio, my gray-haired granny bending to thread a needle, and me rummaging through the sewing box: reels of thread, ribbons and a few mischievous pearls. A snippet from a childhood when knowing how to sew was taken for granted. Not today. It's a dream! Work, home, family, always in a hurry, but our desires persist. None of us can find the time, but we all say to ourselves "Maybe... maybe one day I'll learn to sew..." and we keep a box of threads in some corner of the house. That box could be a wicker basket with a padded lining, or made of wood decorated with Tyrolese hearts, or an old "butter biscuit" tin. Whatever it is, that sewing box is a fascinating, intimate and magic thing. Let's open it again together and rediscover the joy of making small sewing creations for us, for our children, or just for... fun.
Unfreeze proposes a creative course to rediscover how to sew: two meetings to learn or improve the basic techniques of sewing while creating bags and simple clothes for children. We will be meeting on Saturday 19th and 26th June in the home-lab of Unfreeze in the hills near Lucca. Beginning with patterns prepared by our stylists Maria e Veronica, we will choose the materials, the decorations and the best way to create our projects. We will experiment with matching colours, mixing different fabrics and apply trimming and embroidery. All that while having fun and feeling free to be creative. You can bring with you some favourite fabric or a piece of clothing you would like to revive or choose something from our box of remnants. The meetings will be from 3 to 7 pm and all the activities will be in Italian... But don't worry! An English speaking teacher of Italian will be present for those in need. This is the perfect opportunity to learn or improve your Italian! And if you are looking for a "taylor-made" week end, Unfreeze is here to help you. Unfreeze a porte aperte - Unfreeze backstage

"...per esercitare la curiosità" diceva Margherita,"trattare con rispetto le passioni, al di fuori delle formule da edicola '4€ e un hobby in omaggio'" Maria e Veronica "che poi si può usare di tutto: i tappi dei succhi di frutta, le retine delle arance, quel che resta delle matite colorate...". Rosa, tirando le somme, "Mettersi in gioco, sperimentare fin da subito e su progetti concreti: il bello di imparare è fare" e Simona "Documentiamo le attività, lo stile! Ogni azione è comunicazione".

Questo ed altro avreste potuto sentire sabato affacciandovi nella corte della casa-laboratorio di Unfreeze. E sullo sfondo il chiacchiericcio delle tortore, gorgoglii di bambini, qualche falciatrice lontana e soprattutto una quiete profonda, come è difficile trovare altrove. E' stato un brainstorming intenso, rilassato e produttivo. Moltissime idee per il futuro e fin da subito un calendario di incontri dedicati alla manualità e al saper osservare.

Si parte il 29 maggio con un laboratorio di gioielli e decori creativi. Il 13 e il 26 giugno sono le date dedicate alle passeggiate fotografiche (le foto del post sono di Margherita, tutor del laboratorio). Some snippets from the last brainstorming session of Unfreeze. The team met on Saturday, to share topics, suggestions and ideas for future laboratories and events. In the home-lab the atmosphere was relaxed and productive: on the lawn ideas grow smoothly and are "green"! Proposals and projects mixed with cookies, stories and smiles have produced an engaging programme. Mamma a modo mio: ago, filo e libertà! - Happy sewing for kids

Maternità fa rima con creatività. Ogni giorno una sorpresa, espedienti da trovare, sorrisi, nervosismi, soddisfazioni, preoccupazioni, speranze. Il più bel lavoro del mondo, 24 ore su 24. Prendersi una pausa ogni tanto è giusto e salutare. Serve fermarsi per assaporare la felicità, spostare l'attenzione per rinfrancarsi, esprimersi per mettere a frutto le energie che emergono inattese quando si diventa genitori. Unfreeze propone laboratori di cucito, chiacchiere e biscotti per realizzare insieme vestiti per bambini. Un'occasione fantasiosa e colorata per rilassarti e creare, senza smettere di pensare alla tua prole... tanto non ci riusciresti comunque, parola di mamma ;-)

A partire da un cartamodello già fatto realizzeremo semplici capi bimbo/a e li personalizzeremo con accessori, ricami, applicazioni. Troverai qui la macchina da cucire, le forbici, i fili ed un team preparato, paziente e disponibile. Se vuoi, puoi portare la tua stoffa, altrimenti apriremo il nostro baule e chissà cosa ne verrà fuori! Impareremo insieme, in allegria, in un salotto comodo ed elegante oppure fuori in giardino nelle belle giornate di sole.
